Just like a garden, a library must be weeded. Out-of-date and unused books must be removed from the shelves to make room for the blooming children’s literature of the 21st century. It’s an exciting process and one that I enjoy MUCH more than weeding a garden. (I’d rather be sneezing from dusty shelves than have dirt under my fingernails.) Your Madison elementary library has been upgraded this summer. Take a look at the new Graphic Novels section. Stroll through the nonfiction and you will see that there are fewer books -- meaning the “weeds” are gone, and it will be easier to find the latest and greatest information! See the Gallery above for some of the really prickly weeds - eek! And the photos below for some new biographies and graphic novels - hooray!
Although it's only one publisher's info and perspective, it's a good site for some reading ideas. Take a look at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt's Middle Grade Mania. And email me (use the Contact tab) for book ideas anytime!
